Sometimes, life can be a
bit hectic and I love cleansing in
an herbal bath at the end of my day. It can either relax or energize
me,
depending on the herbs that are used.
Now, making a Magickal
Bath isn't tough. It
is as simple as going to your local drug
story and buying a product with the herb or oil that you need in it. Of
course,
it is better if you make your own. The important thing is to meditate
on your
purpose while in the tub. It
is YOUR
FOCUS on your intent that will give this bath the magic needed to make
a
difference in your life.
There are a couple of
ways to approach creating a Magickal
bath. One, which I
love, is to toss in
the entire herb or flower into the bath (cleanup is a bit of a mess
though). It makes
me feel very
exceptional, like an Egyptian Royal.
The other method is to
create a sachet. This
is very simple too, just gather together
the ingredients and place them in a cheesecloth or old washcloth. Next is to place the
sachet in the tub as the
hot water is flowing. The
water will be
colored and scented.
You
can make up several of these sachets and keep them in a
jar with a tight-fitting lid. They should store well for several weeks.
Here
are a couple of great bath recipes I use on a regular
basis.
*Energy Bath*
3 parts Carnation, 2 parts Lavender, 2 parts Rosemary, 2
parts Basil.
Use this when you are
fatigued or depressed. It will give
you a lift, especially if you let the water cool slightly before
bathing. Visualize
the water sparkling with fiery
droplets of energy that melt into your body, lending you vitality and
power.
*Summer Magical Cleansing Bath*
3 parts Marjoram, 3 parts Thyme
Use this mixture during
the Spring and Summer to Wash away the chills of Winter and to "spring
clean"
yourself.
*Winter Magical Cleansing Bath*
3 parts Pine needles, 2 parts Bay, 1 part Rosemary
Bathe in this blend
during the Winter months to refresh and
revitalize your magical energies.
*Ritual Purification Bath*
4 parts Lavender, 4 parts Rosemary, 3 parts Thyme, 3 parts
Basil, 2 parts Fennel, 2 parts Hyssop, 1 part Mint, 1 part Vervain, 1
pinch
Valerian root.
This recipe is adapted
from the Key of Solomon and is ideal
for use before all types of magical rituals, or when you simply wish to
feel
clean and free of impurities. If
you add
more than a pinch of valerian, you'll be sorry. It smells –
well, trust me; it
smells!
